Greens SpeedReader: Learning golf green speeds
Learn a Standard "Reference Speed"
A reference speed is a speed that has been measured and applied to muscle memory through repetition. It is "referred" to as a starting point from which to make quick adjustments to match the current green speed on any golf course.

Step One: Measure a Consistent Surface
Household carpet speeds can closely simulate "average" green speeds. Measuring a carpet or consistent surface, that can be practiced regularly at home, can be the reference speed used on the golf course.

Step Two: Develop Muscle Memory and Awareness
Practice the instructor designed golf games and drills to develop muscle memory and mastery of this speed. Each drill develops a specific speed control skill and increases the difficulty until mastery is achieved.
