Golf Instruction I of III: Putting Speed Control Getting the most from your Greens SpeedReader:    The Goal: Match the current green speed    Putting is composed of two parts: speed and line. Speed control is the focus because it is the most overlooked, essential, and the quickest way to lower scores. article 3-putting dramaticaly increases scores 3-putts  Strokes lost per 18 holes every hole 18 strokes (minimum)  1 every 2 holes   9 strokes (minimum)   1 every 3 holes   6 strokes (minimum)  1 every 4 holes   4-5 strokes (minimum)
Problem #1: What is the speed anyway? Most golfers have not developed the muscle memory for many (if any) golf green speeds. By using a device to objectively measure green speeds, golfers can learn how to develop personal putting strokes for these green speeds.
Problem #2: It's not about the line!!!   The correct putting speed determines the line we use, not vice versa. Putting speed absolutely effects the break of your putt and more. The correct line is much easier to read when using the correct speed. article Every putt is a "speed" putt
